DEN NYE BY (THE NEW CITY), Festival (2025), Aarhus, DK
Through two days, we opened the doors to more than 1000 visitors and 100 program items created by young people – everything from concerts, conversations to performance art. 72 young actors transformed Mejlgade 53 and the old School of Architecture in Aarhus into a living prototype of the city for the future. That led to a shared manifesto from the youth delivered to the city and city council plus an application to become the international youth capital of Europe.
Den Nye By is not just a festival – but a big installation experimenting with joint leadership, co-creation and faith in the future. In developing the festival, I was inspired by the poem by Inger Christensen, “et samfund kan være så stenet” (A society can be so stony), 1969.

THE CONTAINER, Youth space (2023), Hjortshøj, DK
A social laboratory to strengthen youth culture through art. By giving keys to three selected young people, we create a space where young people could take responsibility and feel included. With 50 users, the project meets the need for a place that addresses community, art and greater democratic participation among young people. This is emphasized through dialogue with 70 young people and local actors in Hjortshøj, 2022, where we identified the need for an ownership-oriented and diverse environment.
GLADERE GADER (HAPPIER STREETS), Urban movement and festival (2019-24), Aarhus, DK
In 2019, I established the organisation Gladere Gader to research how art and culture can build community and sustainability in public spaces. We have made more than 50 events in the center of Aarhus, gathering hundreds of people on bike tours on Sundays. In August 2021, we blocked Frederiks Allé in Aarhus for cars for one week to convert it into a playground and hang out spot. More than 30 events happened at the street in close collaboration with 25 organizations and 20 volunteers as part of Aarhus Festuge.
